OLD BUSINESS

DISCUSSION RE: THE STATE EXAMINATION

Ms. Hall stated that per the direction of the Board, the Bureau and the Board had researched developing new tests. Mr. Cinnamon had found that the cost to purchase a new test would be approximately $1,000-$1,500 per test. In addition, it costs the Board approximately $1,500 annually to provide the state exam. The Board would like to discuss with the Association the idea of eliminating the state exam in favor of the national examination. Ms. Cory stated the Board has the option to go either way and there is time to gather further information as this would require a law and perhaps a rule change, which cannot be presented for another year.

The Board would like this discussion tabled for an upcoming meeting. The Board also asked for the secretary to contact the national association and gather information from the other states regarding what examination(s) are used. The secretary will forward this information including any pros and cons to the members of the Board.
