Chairman Wachtler called the meeting to order at 9:03a.m.

A list of nominees for the vacant position on the Board will be distributed to the Board members.

Discussion was held on whether or not Dr. Cooper should be a proctor during the practical portion of the exam. Roger Hales recommended that only Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters should be proctors for examination. The Board agreed to follow that recommendation.

Discussion was held on amending the law to include a two-year educational requirement for licensure.  Current licensees would not be required to meet the new requirement to retain their license.  The Board noted the importance of having a program available in state or on-line so applicants could obtain the required education easily and cost effectively.  The Board also discussed seeking the support of the Associations.

Individual Board members agreed to research these areas for presentation at the next meeting.

Discussion was held on limiting the number of times an examination can be taken and the desire to include appropriate language in a law change.

A new Rule was discussed regarding Sound Field testing. It was noted that options other than Sound Field testing might be more appropriate to determine client benefit.  Kathleen Wachtler agreed to work with the Bureau staff to draft a new rule to include other types of testing. A conference call will be scheduled to review the proposed rule.

Dr. Cooper moved to go into executive session for discussion relating to examination and matters otherwise exempt from public record.  Steven Rademacher seconded and the motion carried.

Steven Rademacher moved to come out of executive session.  Dr. Cooper seconded and the motion carried.

Dr. Cooper moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:00a.m. Steven Rademacher seconded and the motion carried.
