Conference Call Minutes of 7/20/2009

 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  John Monks - Chair

Meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM MDT by John Monks.  

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

Mr. Mork moved to enter into executive session under Idaho Code 67-2345 (1) (d), to consider records that are exempt from disclosure.  Seconded by Mr. Spalding, motion carried. Individual vote for this motion was: Mr. Monks, aye; Mr. Mork, aye; Dr. Link, aye; Mr. Spalding and Mr. Osterman, aye. 

 

Mr. Mork moved to enter into regular session.  Seconded by Mr. Osterman, motion carried. Individual vote for this motion was: Mr. Monks, aye; Mr. Mork, aye; Dr. Link, aye; Mr. Spalding and Mr. Osterman, aye. 

 

Mr. Mork signed off at 10:05 a.m.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

APPLICATIONS

 

Mr. Osterman moved to approve the following applicants to sit for the PG (Practice of Geology) examination based upon meeting all the requirements.  Seconded by Mr. Spalding, motion carried.

Mr. Osterman moved to approve the following applicants for mutual recognition as a registered professional geologist in Idaho based upon meeting all the requirements.  Seconded by Mr. Spalding, motion carried.

Michael Cyrocki – PGL- 1349

Robert Nystrom – PGL- 1342

 

Mr. Osterman moved to approve the following applicants to sit for the FG (Fundamentals of Geology) examination based upon meeting all the requirements.  Seconded by Mr. Spalding, motion carried.

Matthew Hastings

 

Mr. Osterman moved to approve Eric Rothwell to sit for the FG (Fundamentals of Geology) and PG (Practice of Geology) examination based upon meeting all the requirements.  Seconded by Mr. Spalding, motion carried.

 

Mr. Osterman moved to approve Richard Trotman to sit for the PG (Practice of Geology) examination based upon meeting all the requirements.  Seconded by Dr. Link, motion carried.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Mr. Osterman moved to request the application include a check box to mark whether the applicant’s degree was thesis or non thesis. Seconded by Mr. Spalding, motion carried.

 

Dr. Link signed off at 10:20 a.m.

 

CONFERENCE

 

The Board discussed the upcoming National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG) conference.  Mr. Osterman moved to approve Mr. Monks and Bureau staff attend the conference.  Seconded by Mr. Spalding, motion carried.

 

Mr. Spalding moved to pay the annual ASBOG dues. Seconded by Mr. Osterman, motion carried.

 

Mr. Spalding moved to pay the rental car expense from the April 17th, 2009 meeting for Mr. Monks.  Seconded by Mr. Osterman, motion carried.

 

NEXT MEETING

 

A meeting has been scheduled for October 16th, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. MDT at the Bureau of Occupational Licenses.

 

ADJOURNMENT

 

Mr. Spalding moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:45 a.m. MDT.  Seconded by Mr. Osterman, motion carried.
