MINUTES OF April 6, 2001

ROLL CALL: Frank Harris, Chairman; Al Lopez, Jr.; Carla Wolfrum; 

ABSENT/EXCUSED: Robert Skinner; Kay Youngerman

ALSO PRESENT: John Kersey, Chief Investigator; Roger Hales, Administrative Attorney; Janice Wiedrick, Secretary

Chairman Harris called the meeting to order at 9:25a.m.

Al Lopez moved to approve the minutes of November 3, 2000 board meeting and January 31, 2001 conference call. Carla Wolfrum seconded the motion, motion carried.

By consensus, the Board requests Roger Hales to write to Delta Dental for more details about the change in policy that removed Denturists from the approved provider list for insurance purposes unless they are members of Delta Dental.

John Kersey presented the investigative report showing that one complaint has been received this year and it is under investigation. In 2000, nine complaints were received and one is open and six are under legal review.

Al Lopez moved to go into executive session for discussion of records exempt from public disclosure. Carla Wolfrum seconded the motion, motion carried.

Carla Wolfrum moved to come out of the executive session. Al Lopez seconded the motion, motion carried.

Al Lopez moved to allow applicants LD 10-10-00 GSB and LD 10-16-00 ECO to be scheduled for examination on June 1, 2001. The written portion will be at 9:00a.m. and the practical portion will be at 1:00p.m.

Carla Wolfrum moved to amend the rules to require a 75% passing score on each portion of the examination. Al Lopez seconded the motion, motion carried. Roger Hales is to draft the rule and mail for fax the proposed new rule to the Board for approval. This will be a proposed rule for the 2002 legislative session.

Discussion was held on a new test being developed for examination. All drafts will be presented to the Board for review and consideration for approval.

Discussion was held on Continuing Education for renewal and the pre-approval or post-approval of the CE credits.

Al Lopez asked John Kersey to research the criminal history of a Denturist.

The minute book was signed.

Having no further business before them, Carla Wolfrum moved that the meeting adjourn at 10:45a.m. Al Lopez seconded the motion, motion carried.
