NOTE TO CONSUMERS: Contractors are required to provide proof of insurance at the time of registration and to maintain insurance coverage. However, the consumer should request verification of current insurance coverage. Please note, liability insurance is not insurance that the project will be completed to the customer’s satisfaction. “Construction" means the performance of building, altering, repairing, adding to, subtracting from, improving, reconstructing, moving, excavating, wrecking or demolishing any building, highway, road, bridge, or other structure, project, development or improvement to real property, or to do any part thereof, including the erection of scaffolding or other structures or works.

"Contractor" means any person who in any capacity, including a construction manager, who undertakes, offers to undertake, purports to have the capacity to undertake, or submits a bid to, or does himself or by or through others, performs construction.

Contracting is a regulated activity in Idaho. All contractors are required to register with the Board.

NOTE: HVAC, Public Works, Plumbing, Electrical, and Construction Manager Contractors are required to be licensed with the  Division of Building Safety and need only register with the Idaho State Contractors Board if doing work outside that license.

For those holding a Public Works or Construction Manager license, there are no fees for the initial registration or for the annual renewal (see Idaho Code 54-5214). However, in order to apply and renew, you must fill out the appropriate forms and attach a copy of your current Public Works or Construction Manager license.
