IDAHO BOARD OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS

Licensure Application Process

The Idaho Landscape Architect licensure law is a practice act.  This law requires the licensure of persons who practice or offer to practice landscape architecture in the State of Idaho.  Licensure is available through both endorsement and examination.  There are also specific requirements regarding the Approved Seal and its use. The violation of this act may result in criminal prosecution.

Those who have met the age and education qualifications, and are under the supervision of a licensed landscape architect, may register with the Board as a Landscape Architect in Training.  Only registered Landscape Architects-in-Training are entitled to use the title "Landscape Architect-in-Training." All Landscape Architects in Training must be employed by and work under the direct supervision of an Idaho licensed landscape architect.  A landscape architect-in-training shall not sign or seal any plan, specification, or other document, and shall not engage in the practice of landscape architecture except under the direct supervision of an Idaho licensed landscape architect. The application for Landscape Architect-in-Training Registration may be downloaded on the forms link to the left.

Examinations (Rule 300). The Idaho State Board of landscape Architects has adopted the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE) as the approved licensure examination for Idaho Landscape Architects. Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Board administers each section of LARE on behalf of the Board. The application for Landscape Architect Licensure and the reference form are available on the forms page to the left.

If you have already completed the LARE in another jurisdiction through CLARB, you should contact the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Board to have them send an official score report to the Bureau of Occupational Licenses.

Reciprocity/limited examination (rule 302). The board may certify for licensure an applicant who obtained a license in another state by successfully passing the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE) as required by Rule 300 or who holds a current Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Board certificate.
