Minutes of October 18, 2002

The meeting was called to order at 9:10 a.m. by Acting Chair, Mary McGown. 

 ELECTION OF OFFICERS

 Moved by Ms. McGown that Dell Hatch be Chairperson for the next year.  Seconded by Mr. Dial, carried.

 Moved by Ms. McGown that minutes of the July 19, 2002 meeting be approved as submitted.  Seconded by Mr. Dial, carried.

 Ms. Jacobsen reported that due to the seating capacity of the new conference table and utilizing the conference rooms the Bureau is saving money for all the Boards. 

 Financial report was given.  Ms. Jacobsen will contact the Bureau’s DFM analyst requesting his attendance at the next meeting to discuss fee increases.  Moved by Ms. McGown that the financial report be approved.  Seconded by Mr. Dial, carried.

 Investigative report was given.  No action.

 Ms. Jacobsen presented the contract for services between the Bureau and the Board for review.  Moved by Ms. McGown to approve the contract for FY 2003 and authorize the Board Chair to execute the contract.  Seconded by Mr. Dial, carried.

 Proposed legislation was reviewed.  The Board of Architects and the Board of Professional Engineers had some concerns with the proposal.  Mr. Dave Curtis, Director of the Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors was in attendance.

 The Board asked that the Bureau notify all licensees during next renewal that upon passed of the proposed legislation the Landscape Architect seals will need to reflect “Licensed” and not “Registered”.

 Moved by Ms. McGown that counsel, Roger Hales, be directed to make changes to the proposed legislation as discussed and distributed to the Bureau and the appropriate agencies.  Seconded by Mr. Dial, carried.

 Proposed rule changes will be discussed during the next meeting for submission after the law passes.

 Meeting adjourned at 11:40 a.m.
