Licensure Application Process
The Idaho Landscape Architect licensure law is a practice act. This law requires the licensure of persons who practice or offer to practice landscape architecture in the State of Idaho. There are also specific requirements regarding the approved seal and its use. The violation of this act may result in criminal prosecution. Licensure is available through both endorsement and examination.
Those who have met the age and education qualifications, and are under the supervision of a licensed landscape architect, may register with the Board as a Landscape Architect in Training. Only registered Landscape Architects-in-Training are entitled to use the title "Landscape Architect-in-Training." All Landscape Architects in Training must be employed by and work under the direct supervision of an Idaho licensed landscape architect. A landscape architect-in-training shall not sign or seal any plan, specification, or other document, and shall not engage in the practice of landscape architecture except under the direct supervision of an Idaho licensed landscape architect. The Application for Landscape Architect-in-Training Registration may be downloaded in PDF format and is available by contacting the Bureau.
Examinations (Rule 300). The Idaho State Board of landscape Architects has adopted the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE) as the approved licensure examination for Idaho Landscape Architects. If you are seeking licensure as a landscape architect and have not passed all sections the LARE examination, sections C & E are offered in Idaho. Sections A, B, and D are scheduled through CLARB. If you wish to sit for C and E, you must complete the Intent to Sit for Examination application. The Application for Licensure may be downloaded in PDF format and is available by contacting the Bureau.
The completed application form, together with the required examination fees, must be received at the Bureau of Occupational Licenses by April 1 for the June examination and October 1 for the December examination. The examinations are administered in Boise. On the Intent to Sit for Examination form, please indicate which examination you will be attending and which sections you wish to take.
