The meeting was called to order at 8:35 a.m. mst by Mr. Eric Negaard, Chair.

 

Mr. Burton Waite gave a presentation on the proposed legislation dealing with student tuition recovery for proprietary schools which would include schools licensed under Title, 54, Chapters 5 and 8, Idaho Code.  Discussion was held.  Moved by Ms. Lambert that the Board support the legislation proposed by the Division of Professional Technical Education, as long as it exempts cosmetology and barber schools.  Seconded by Ms. Hill Herbold, motion carried.

 

Moved by Ms. Hill Herbold that the Board address the tuition recovery bond in the cosmetology law (54-808.17, Idaho Code) at the regular Board meeting to be held in February, 2008.  Seconded by Ms. Huff, motion carried.

 

Executive Session

 

Moved by Ms. Lambert that the board enter into executive session to review applications exempt from public disclosure per Idaho Code 67-2345(1)(d).  Seconded by Ms. Sermon, motion carried.  Individual vote:  Ms. Sermon, aye; Ms. Herbold, aye; Ms. Huff, aye; Ms. Lambert, aye.

 

Moved by Ms. Huff to reconvene in regular session.  Seconded by Ms. Hill Herbold, motion carried.  Individual vote:  Ms. Sermon, aye; Ms. Herbold, aye; Ms. Huff, aye; Ms. Lambert, aye.

 

Applications

 

Moved by Ms. Hill Herbold that we request additional information and monthly records for  applicant 901094115 and applicant 901095084.  Seconded by Ms. Lambert, motion carried.

 

Oregon Letter

 

Moved by Ms. Lambert to direct the Bureau to write a letter to the State of Oregon requesting a breakdown of hours.  Seconded by Ms. Hill Herbold, motion carried.

 

Applications

 

Moved by Ms. Hill Herbold that 901098660 be sent a letter recommending that she apply to the Idaho Board of Barber Examiners for a license as she does not meet the requirements of the Cosmetology Board.  Seconded by Ms. Lambert, motion carried.

 

Moved by Ms. Lambert that Kelsi Edwards be approved for a cosmetology license.  Seconded by Ms. Sermon, motion carried.
