Mr. Park called the meeting to order at 10:00 am.
Kevin Moriarty introduced as new Board Member.
Moved by Mr. Moriarty to accept the minutes from November 22, 2004, seconded by Mr. Park; motion carried.
Discussion was held on the Board registering the Barber Pole as a Trademark. Budd Hetrick advised that the Board’s legal counsel recommended against such action, and noted that both barber law and cosmetology law presently address false or deceptive advertising. No action was taken.
An application and curriculum for an Out of State Barber School was reviewed. The applicant will be notified that no action will be taken until additional information can be received and reviewed.
Motion made by Mr. Moriarty to direct the Bureau to draft language to clarify 54-528 regarding the qualifications for a Barber Instructor license, second by Mr. Park, and carried.
A request for approval of a Barber Instructor’s continuing education hours was reviewed. Motion made by Mr. Moriarty to accept the continuing education hours for BI-32; seconded by Mr. Park; and carried.
The Board discussed the location options for the licensure examinations. Motion made by Mr. Moriarty that the Barber Practical examinations be administered at the Boise Barber College; seconded by Mr. Park; motion carried. The Theory examinations will continue to be administered at the Bureau office.
Motion made by Mr. Moriarty to strike the words ‘oral test’ from 54-510; seconded by Mr. Park; motion carried.
Application for Licensure for BARA-228101 was reviewed. The applicant will be notified that no action will be taken until transcripts from the barber school attended are submitted and reviewed.
