Minutes of November 13, 2000

Cher Stone called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. 

MINUTES 

Leslie Thorson moved to approve the July 10th board meeting and August 2nd and October 30, 2000 conference call minutes.  Curtis Park seconded the motion, motion carried. 

FINANCE REPORT 

Thomas Limbaugh presented the board the finance report indicating a balance of $73,679.13 as of November 10, 2000. 

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION 

Cher Stone gave a report on the conference of the National Association of Barber Boards that she and Leslie Thorson attended September 17 through September 20, 2000 in Chicago, Illinois.  There were on twenty-six states represented. 

EXECUTIVE SESSION 

Leslie Thorson moved to go into executive session for the purpose of reviewing applications.  Curtis Park seconded the motion, motion carried. 

Leslie Thorson moved to re-enter regular session.  Curtis Park seconded the motion, motion carried. 

Leslie Thorson moved to table a decision on barber student file number 928 and 933 and request the Bureau send a letter requesting more information on their criminal history.  Curtis Park seconded the motion, motion carried.

CONTRACT 

Budd Hetrick presented the Board the Bureau/Board contract and noted the changes.  Curtis Park moved to accept the contract and authorize Cher Stone to sign on behalf of the Board.  Leslie Thorson seconded the motion, motion carried. 

LAW CHANGES 

The Board reviewed the law changes that will be presented during the 2001-legislation session.  Tom Limbaugh stated it would be good if a board member could attend the session when the bill is being introduced.  

If the law changes are passed the Board proposed to send educational letters to Idaho Colleges regarding barbering, in hope of encouraging new barber programs in the state.
