INSTRUCTOR EXAM
The Board administrated the barber instructor exam to one candidate.
MINUTES
Curtis Park moved to approve the March 13, 2000 minutes. Leslie Thorson seconded the motion, motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Leslie Thorson moved to enter executive session. Curtis Park seconded the motion, motion carried.
Leslie Thorson moved to re-enter regular session. Curtis Park seconded the motion, motion carried.
The Board discussed complaint file for case number BAR-BI-02A-99-002. After hearing from Kirsten Wallace and David Leroy, Curtis Park moved to suspend the six (6) month suspension of barber licenses B-2556 and BS-1512. The respondent shall remain at the 2 nd offense level for a probation period of three (3) years and pay a fine of $600.00 plus recovery cost of legal and investigative costs. The fine will be made in payments to the Bureau and must be paid by the end of this year. The motion was seconded by Leslie Thorson and carried.
FINANCE REPORT
Thomas Limbaugh presented the board the finance report indicating a balance of $65,074.41 as of June 30, 2000.
LAW AND RULE CHANGES
The board discussed proposed law and rule changes. August 1st is the deadline to have the proposals submitted to the Bureau. Upon receiving a draft copy of all suggested changes, the Board will schedule a conference call to finalize the proposals.
NORTHWEST STYLIST
Cher Stone wrote an article for the Northwest Stylist. The Board would like to encourage the cosmetology board members and schools and associations to take turns writing articles for the Northwest Stylist.
CORRESPONDENCE
A question was received regarding licensure by endorsement. The Board stated that applicants must hold a current barber license in another state for three years or, upon proof of acceptable Barber training, take the complete examination.
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION
Cher Stone and Leslie Thorson will be attending the annual conference of the National Association of Barber Boards September 17 through September 20, 2000 at Chicago, Illinois.
