Licensure Application Process
Idaho law requires the licensure of all persons who practice or offer to practice architecture in the State of Idaho. Licensure is available through both endorsement and examination.
Applicants for examination must register as an Architectural Intern with the Board and complete the Intern Development Program (IDP) before the Board will give approval for the exam. Subsequent to approval, applicants must schedule their own appointments for the computerized examination. The applicable fees must be included with a completed application.
EXAMINATION
A person applying for license by examination must submit satisfactory evidence of the following to the board.
Either:
a. Graduation from an accredited architectural curriculum in a school or college approved by the board, and
b. Specific record of an additional three (3) years or more of experience in architectural work of a character, deemed satisfactory by the board, indicating that the applicant is competent to practice architecture.
OR
a. That the applicant has attained standards, per board rule, of knowledge and skill approximating that attained through graduation from an accredited architectural curriculum, and
b.
Specific record of eight (8) years or
more of experience in architectural work of a character, deemed satisfactory by
the board, indicating that the applicant is competent to practice
architecture.
The
board may adopt, by rule, as its own standards for education and experience, the
guidelines published by the national council of architectural registration
boards.
