Minutes of June 17, 2004   

CONFERENCE CALL 

ROLL CALL:    Therese Hahn, Chair

BUREAU PRESENT:        Rayola Jacobsen, Bureau Chief

                                          Roger Hales, Administrative Attorney

The meeting was called to order at 9:10 a.m. by Chair, Therese Hahn.  

Motion was made by Ms. Yocum to approve the meeting minutes from June 04, 2004 as amended.  Seconded by Ms. Kuty, carried.  

Proposed rules were reviewed.  

Motion was made by Ms. Kuty to accept rule 200, 02 (b) as written with the following amendments:  strike rule 010, 11 Definitions; have rule 200, 02 (b) read as follows: hold at least a doctoral degree from an accredited college or university as a Chiropractic Physician, Dentist, Medical Doctor, Naturopath, Osteopath, Podiatrist or a Licensed Advanced Practice Professional Nurse; and.  Seconded by Dr. Downey, carried. 

The board decided they would propose a rule change for certification in Acupuncture for this year, and pursue a law change at a later date. 

Motion was made by Mr. Peebles to accept the rule change for rule 305, 03 as written.  Seconded by Ms. Yocum, carried. 

Motion was made by Ms. Kuty to approve funds to send a representative to the FAOMRA meeting in October.  Seconded by Ms. Yocum, carried. 

It was noted that the board would have the same expectations for the person attending the FAOMRA meeting as in the past. 

The board reviewed the insert created by the Bureau regarding distant learning continuing education approved by the NCCAOM. 

Motion was made by Ms. Kuty to accept the continuing education insert to be inserted with each new renewal license as written.  Seconded by Ms. Yocum, carried. 

The board discussed proposing a law change to grant an exemption to those students enrolled in school or for professors who are demonstrating acupuncture.  

Motion was made by Ms. Kuty to adjourn at 9:50 a.m.  Seconded by Ms. Yocum, carried.
