FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is the difference between a Technician Certificate and Certification?
A: The board may require the holder of a Technician Certificate to practice only under supervision, and may limit the scope of practice depending on education. Certification is the form of licensure allowing acupuncture practice that is issued to health care providers already licensed in another profession.
A: Certification was created for practitioners who hold another professional license. The scope of practice for Certification and Licensure are the same.
Q: What is the amount of continuing education required to maintain my Acupuncture license, and what courses are approved by the board?
A:
All licensees must obtain 15 hours of continuing education annually.
All courses that are germane to the practice of Acupuncture and approved
by
National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
(NCCAOM), are automatically approved for continuing education. The Board may also approve other courses that are germane.
Q: I have let my license lapse, what must I do to activate that license?
A:
A license that has been lapsed less than five years may be reinstated
upon submission of a renewal application together with the payment of all back
renewal fees, the required re-instatement
fee, and proof of completion of 15 hours of continuing education for each year the license has been lapsed.
If a license has been lapsed for more than five years, a new application
for licensure is required. Please contact the Bureau.
Q: I am applying for licensure in another state and they require verification of my license in Idaho. What do I need to do?
A:
Send a written request to: The

with a $10.00 processing fee, and the address of the office that requires the
